Fashionably late Friday

Here are a couple of outfits I've worn lately with a couple of things I've been up to thrown in for good measure...

Grey wrap top (Abi & Jospeh); Cream sequin & embroidered skirt (Forever New); Silver flats (Mollini)

Embroidery for my friend B's new little baby girl (who actually isn't that new anymore - it just took me 6 months to do this!)

Navy skirt (Saba); White top (Witchery); Floral scarf (vintage); Navy metallic flats (Gap)

Flowy tunic/dress (Willow); Brown flats (Witchery)

Miss L on the move. Crawling for about 2 weeks now. Hooray!

Fashion Friday: Mod

I'm trying to do a bit of a mod styling today. Exposed buttons and chunky gemstone necklace.

I am wearing:

Skirt: Ye Olde Cue (that I've had for ages!)
Top: Witchery
Necklace: Gift from my Mum (Adorne)
Shoes: Silver Mollini flats

What have you got planned for the weekend? I am catching up with the Bookclub girls and can't wait to see them. We are watching movies of some of the books we have read over the years.

Fashion Friday: Leaving on a Jet Plane

Today we are leaving on a jet plane... getting away from this Queensland heat (although today is much cooler, thank you mother nature) and heading down to Canberra to visit the relatives. My Nan and Pop have both been very sick, plus they haven't met Little Miss L yet so I thought it would be good to go down to see them. My Mum and brother are coming too.

Here is what I'm wearing:

Top: Witchery
Jeans: Sass and Bide
Wedges: Urban Soul
Scarf: Tree of Life

I hope you all have a magical weekend!!!

Fashion Friday: Clean Up and Unpack Day

Today was a day about the house cleaning up, unpacking and settling back into home life. Little Miss L and I did a *quick* trip (1.5 hours) to Ikea to pick up some plastic tumblers, plates and bowls for her, and some items for her upcoming 1st birthday.

Wearing:
Top: Witchery blue t-shirt
Bottoms: DIY'd denim cut-offs
Shoes: Mollini silver flats

Fashion Friday: Simple Dress + Chunky Necklace

Today I wore this:

Dress: Witchery
Silver necklace: Tiffany & Co
Chunky necklace: Gift (I think it was bought in Thailand)

This morning my Mum, brother and sisters came over for breakfast. We made a delicious meal that we stole from the Lady Marmalade cafe in Stones Corner.

Avocado (seasoned with lime, chilli flakes, salt and pepper) with roasted tomatoes and a basil pesto on toast with 'home fries' - diced potato fried in a hot pan with cumin. Seriously. Amazing. I scored the leftovers so this is my lunch.

No plans for the weekend apart from a trip to the markets in the morning. Going to take it easy before heading away next week to Bundaberg and then Woodgate for Christmas.

I hope you have a fab weekend!

Fashion Friday: Festive Flamenco

Hi. This is me today. A bit festive. A bit flamenco.

This very bright arrangement was purchased yonks ago from a boutique called 'Valley Girl'. Who would have thunk it? Its stretchy and has shirring around the waist. Talk about comfort factor.

Dress: Valley Girl
Singlet: Witchery

Hope you have a fabulous weekend planned!

Fashion Friday: DIY denim cut-offs

I DIY'd my denim cut-off shorts this morning. I can't do short shorts. I just do not have the legs for them. My short stumpy wide legs are a family trait from my Dad's side. I fear that Little Miss L will inherit my short stumpy legs. Early indications are that she already has.

I ran my sharp material scissors along the cut edge of the shorts to give them a bit of a kick start, although I need to wash them to get that full on frayed edge effect.

Shorts: Op shop jeans diy'd into cut-off shorts
Top: See by Chloe

What are your plans for the weekend? Little Miss L and I are off to the Rocklea markets in the morning with Mum. So looking forward to getting some fresh fruit and vegies, buying some herbs for my new herb garden, and eating a bacon and egg muffin. Mr B is golfing it up this weekend for work so us girls will have to fend for ourselves!

Fashion Friday: Lovely Leona

I had some uncertain news today regarding my job for next year... so I needed something to cheer me up which wasn't covered in chocolate*, so out came the Leona. Little Miss L makes an appearance today as well!

Dress: Leona Edmiston
Little Miss L wears short sleeved onesie by Sprout. It has pictures of cupcakes on it and says 'Cute as a Cupcake'.

*I may have still eaten one tim tam and one caramel crown. Oops.

Hope you have a fantastic weekend my sweets!

Fashion Friday: Mixing florals

Today I'm channeling my inner hippy and wearing a green floral print dress I've had for AGES. Its got these two different green floral prints on it. I love the idea of mixing prints - like stripes and florals - but I am too scared to follow through.

Dress: Free People
Belt: vintage

I've got absolutely no plans for the weekend... Depending on Little Miss L, we might venture out to the markets for some fresh fruit and veg. I hope you have a lovely weekend my dears!

Fashion Friday: Nautical

I can't believe its Friday again. This week has gone so fast!

Today's Fashion Friday post is a bit uninspired. We're having a day around the house and running some errands so comfort was the key factor here:

Dress: second hand Katies dress (inherited from my Mum)
Belt: vintage
Flats: Barkins

What have you got planned for the weekend? I've got BC on Saturday - we're reading The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell. I know. Quality reading. I'm allowed to say that because I picked the book. I'm a bit of an SATC fan so I wanted to read this to see what it was like. I'm a bit 'meh' over it.

Mr B is also planning on taking us girls to pancakes on the weekend. Yummo. My fave!

Hope you all have a fab weekend.

Fashion(ably Late) Friday: Packing

I'm sorry for the late Fashion Friday post. Its been one of THOSE days *sigh*. Little Miss L woke on and off continuously between 1:30am and 4:00am and then at 4am she decided that she was ready to start her day. She always wakes like that when she's coming down with a cold... and low and behold what happens today, the runny nose starts, the constant sneezing begins. So we had lots of cuddles and couch time today.

I must say though, that starting your day at 4am makes for a very productive day. I'd done three loads of washing, pureed some apples for Little Miss L, made the bed, washed my face, done the dishes - all before 8am. But a 4am start means morning tea is at 8:30am - out came the chocolate slice and a big frothy home made soy latte. I figured I'd been up for 4 hours already so it was ok. And then my Mum arrived just before 10 with big coffees from McCafe. She is a life saver.

Anyway, back to the fashion. I thought I'd show you what I'm packing for my trip up north. We're going for 4 days and 3 nights. I always find it hard to pack. What if the weather changes and I'm not prepared? What if I change my mind and don't feel like wearing the outfit I packed? There is no such thing as 'packing light' when it comes to me. I like a selection of outfits and options just in case!

Here's what I packed:

  • Undies, bras and pj's
  • 3 x dresses (one casual and two that can be dressed up just in case I go out somewhere)
  • 1 x black jersey skirt
  • 3 x tops which I can wear on their own or layer
  • Cream blazer
  • Workout gear (for the afternoon walks with Little Miss L)
  • Nude wedges (can be worn casually or dressed up)
  • Black Havaianas
  • Tan flats
  • 2 x belts (one leopard print and one brown)
Actually, I think this is considered 'packing light' for me! Are you a good packer? Or do you overdo it like I do?

Hope you have a lovely weekend planned my sweets!

Fashion Friday: Stars and Stripes

I have been watching The Today Show all week - they are in New York and its making me wish I was back there too. Absolutely love that place.

So today I whipped out some stars and stripes in a homage to the good ol' US of A.

Necklace: Made by me!
T-shirt: Witchery
Skirt & belt: Cue
Shoes: Seed Heritage

Have a happy weekend y'all!

Fashion Friday: Let's put it to a vote

So, my slopping around the house outfit today is highly unworthy of a Fashion Friday blog post, hence why I thought I'd do something a little different today. Mr B and I are going out on our anniversary dinner date tomorrow night at a fancy schmancy restaurant in the city, so I need you to help me choose what to wear.

Here are the options:

Outfit 1:
Black dress, blue heels

Outfit 2:
Watermelon red dress & black sparkly heels

Outfit 3:
Pale pink & lace dress and pink sparkly wedges

Send me your vote in the comments box below!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend filled with fun, family, food and friends.

Fashion Friday: Wild Side

I'm embracing animal print. I never thought I'd say that. I used to think it was tacky and dated - but that was 19 year old me. So here I am, 11 years later and getting in on the animal print action.

Singlet: Big W
Skirt: Hand-me-down from my friend A
Cardi: Valley Girl
Shoes: Cellini

Fashion Friday: Comfy

Today Miss L and I are venturing over to the north side of Brisbane for a play date with my beautiful God son and his lovely Mummy. Can't wait. So today's Fashion Friday post is all about comfort. I whipped out my trusty leggings and this no-iron Metalicus dresss.

Dress: Metalicus
Cardi: Veronika Maine (I do own a lot of cardigans don't I?)
Leggings: Ezibuy
Necklace: Vintage - bought from a crazy old lady at the Fortitude Valley markets many moons ago

What have you got planned for the weekend? Mr B is having the boys over tonight for footy and pizza, and tomorrow we are celebrating a friends birthday with a BBQ.

Fashion Friday: Spring Feeling

The weather is so lovely at the moment... I love this time of year when the days are warm and the nights are cool. Its the perfect time of year. I can definitely feel and smell spring in the air, so I had to whip out my most springiest outfit for today's Fashion Friday post. I love this dress. It is so comfy to wear, and it has pockets. I love a dress with pockets.

Dress: Op shop
Cardi: Witchery

I have got an action packed weekend ahead of me... a hen's night on the Gold Coast with my future sister-in-law and my first night away from Miss L. I'm not sure how its going to go. Ideally it would be good to get a full nights sleep, but somehow I don't think that is going to happen with all the fun and frivolity that a hen's night usually entails! Father's Day is on Sunday and Mr B's very first day of this kind. We don't have any plans as yet, but maybe we'll go out for a steak lunch or something? Hope you have a good weekend!

Fashion Friday: Stripes

Having a day at home, doing some tidying before I special guest arrives tonight! None other than Miss L's lovely Godmother, A.

Dress: Old Navy
Cardi: Cue
Nail Polish: OPI

Can't wait for the weekend! A trip to the market is in order, and a birthday pot luck dinner for A. Hope you have a lovely weekend too.

Fashion Friday: Lace and Petals

Another casual Friday - taking Miss L to the Mater for her check up and running a few errands. I am wearing a flower brooch and loving it. Although, so does Miss L as she has been constantly trying to grab it and shove it in her mouth all day.

Top: Forever New
Cardi: Witchery
Jeans: Sass & Bide
Flower Brooch: Cosmetics Plus
Shoes: Not sure. Have had them for ages!

Meanwhile, I have a fashion dilemma going on... I am attending the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival at Southbank tomorrow night. Have a few options planned. Might need to try a few outfits on and do a fashion show for Mr B to help me decide. I might even do a Fashion Saturday post for you!

Hope you all have a good weekend!
